Junior Environmental Scientist

We are currently searching for a Junior Environmental Scientist for our Contaminated Sites Practice in our Vernon office. Reporting to the Environmental Management Group Manager, the successful candidate will have minimum of one to two years of consulting or related work experience, be able to work efficiently and multi-task, and have strong written and spoken communications skills. The successful applicant will assist in growing our contaminated sites assessment and remediation practice, and will work both independently and with intermediate and senior scientists and project managers on a wide variety of field and office assignments. Travel, flexibility and field work is required for this position. Roles and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Leading or assisting in soil, surface water, and groundwater quality investigations;
  • Leading or assisting with field surveys;
  • Environmental monitoring of construction and site remediation projects;
  • Laboratory and contractor liaison;
  • Data analyses and graphing;
  • Preparation of project reports, technical memos, and letters;
  • Assisting in preparing proposals;
  • Contributing to business development; and
  • Client liaison and support.


Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in environmental science, hydrology, physical geography, earth science, chemistry or water resources;
  • Registered or eligible for registration with preferred relevant professional body; (APEGBC, BCIA, APBBC)
  • Excellent written and spoken communication;
  • Proficient at software for word processing, data analysis, and presentations;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail;
  • Keen interest in project management;
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal regulations is an asset; and
  • Commitment to working in a team environment.
